We grade by condition as defined by ABBookman, long considered to be the gold standard by book dealers. Briefly, FINE is a perfect book but there will be few books that meet this standard since there are always some imperfections. NEAR FINE has slight imperfections which don't detract from the beauty of the book or jacket. VERY GOOD has more noticeable flaws but is still within the realm of collectible. GOOD is a typical used book with rather severe flaws that take it out of the collectible category but is still satisfactory for reading or reference.
We don't qualify our grades with a + or - (e. g. VG- or G+) since it is our contention that a book is either a certain grade or it is not.

We guarantee that all our books will be as we describe them. Nothing annoys us more than to pay for a Fine or Near Fine first edition and then, once the book is in our hands, finding out that the book grade really should have been Good, the jacket is barely in one piece, and it's a Book Club edition.
That's why we double and triple check before cataloging. So, if we say it is a First Edition, then it will be a First Edition. If we say the book condition is Near Fine, then it will be so. If we say the book is signed by the author, it will be.

The rates on this website are based on our costs for packing and postage. In the event that the actual cost to pack and ship your order is significantly less than our stated charge, we will refund the difference. More information is available on the Store Policies page.
We extend a 10% courtesy discount to other book dealers. If this is your first order with us, we will require your tax ID number and a signed Reseller Certificate.

We are happy to do searches within our specialties. If you are looking for hardcover Mystery, Suspense, True Crime, Fiction, or Medicine, click on the Request Service link at left. Fill out the request form as completely as possible. Be sure to indicate in the Description field if a book club edition or trade paperback is acceptable.
If you are looking for a book in any other field, use the Links and Resources link at left for other bookstores. We simply don't have the contacts required to do a thorough search outside of our specialties.
Shopping cart software is very efficient but not very bright and will only do what we tell it to do. Are you entering the code exactly as we gave it to you? The field is case sensitive and the software doesn't know that a T is the same as a t. Is the coupon still valid? Some have an expiration date.
